Duplicate computer accounts in SCCM

The reason for the problem is the old entries found on Active Directory and DNS, which lead to duplicate records. To solve this problem you’ll need to

  1. Configure DNS scavenging.
  2. Remove inactive computer accounts from Active Directory (for example, computer accounts that didn’t login for longer than 45 days)
  3. Ensure that the deletion of Aged data is configured on SCCM Maintenance tasks
  4. You may need to delete all Discovered clients and allow SCCM to rediscover them to get the right client name this time.

** This issue may also occur due to reinstalling windows for the client and keeping the old name, or use Image template that have SCCM agent installed.
