The reason for the problem is the old entries found on Active Directory and DNS, which lead to duplicate records. To solve this problem you’ll need to
- Configure DNS scavenging.
- Remove inactive computer accounts from Active Directory (for example, computer accounts that didn’t login for longer than 45 days)
- Ensure that the deletion of Aged data is configured on SCCM Maintenance tasks
- You may need to delete all Discovered clients and allow SCCM to rediscover them to get the right client name this time.
** This issue may also occur due to reinstalling windows for the client and keeping the old name, or use Image template that have SCCM agent installed.
